Moments with Yaya

Danger

Yaya is learning the importance of danger. She learns that danger can be something that you can touch which can hurt you as well as danger in the form of a strange person that could cause you harm. There are many dangers that can affect children. Crossing the road, being careful around the swimming pool and much more. Children grow up hearing things from their parents. “Don’t touch that!” “Be careful with that!” these statements stick in your mind and make you aware of potential dangers that may be in front of you.

LEARN ABOUT DANGER

Our parents and teachers show us the importance of crossing the road carefully, as to not get hurt. We look left and right and left again in case there are any cars driving in our way. We know that when we are swimming, it is best to have an adult around to watch us in case we get tired in the water, or slip on the wet surface. We learn that not everyone that talks to us is friendly.

When we are out with our friends we need to be careful of strangers who want to talk to you or invite you to their car. It’s always best to speak to an adult you know if you feel something isn’t right.

Yaya knows that she must never put her fingers near plug holes or play with electrical appliances. She knows that the electricity can shock her if she isn’t careful. The kitchen is filled with objects that could cause potential harm. There are knives, electrical appliances and heat from the oven. Yaya knows that when she wants to help daddy cook, he has to help her, otherwise she may get hurt. Always have your mom or dad with you when you want something in the kitchen, to prevent any accidents.

If you see a lighter or matches lying around, it is best to leave them alone. These dangers can cause a fire which can harm you and your home. Yaya loves to blow out candles on a birthday cake and toast marshmallows on the fire, but she knows that the flames of the fire can burn her if she isn’t careful.

Children love animals. If they see an animal at the zoo or even on the street, they tend to go straight for it to pet it or talk to it. However, if this animal is a stranger to you, you need to be careful. The animal could be vicious or sick. If the animal feels threatened, it may attack or hurt you. Rather ask mom or dad first if it is safe to pet the animal that you come in contact with.
