Tricky people ( Strangers)

Episode 4

Description

Yaya is fully aware of who she knows and who she doesn’t know! She knows that she is comfortable to be around the people in her family, and the friends that come to visit. She also knows that talking to strangers or “tricky people”, must be done with caution.

If you don’t recognize someone as someone you know, and they want to give you a sweet, offer you a lift, or take you somewhere –  rather ask mommy or daddy or speak to someone you can trust.  Often when we are out and about, we meet new people and see a lot of strangers around us. It’s always best to keep your eye on mom or dad, so that you know you can go to them if you feel unsafe in any way.

Tricky people can be dangerous, they may not always look scary on the outside, but inside they may not be a nice person at all. Never take toys, sweets or snacks from someone you don’t know. Never go anywhere with someone you don’t know. If you aren’t sure, ask your teacher or your parents. If you feel like something is wrong, shout out loud “NO!” and you may just scare the tricky person away. If anything, your teacher or parent will hear you and come to your side. Always tell an adult if there is someone hanging around the house or the school, that you think shouldn’t be there. You could be helping other children as well as yourself to stay safe. A grown up doesn’t need to ask a child for help, that should already be a trigger to realise something is not right. If a tricky person asks you to help them look for their puppy, rather say no. this could be a lie to try get you to go with them, especially if you don’t know them.

You are the boss of your own body! Always remember that! You can say no if something doesn’t feel right, and its best to tell someone you trust if you feel worried.

We always feel safe when we are with our family, but sometimes there are people that aren’t so good, and may want to hurt you or take you away from your family. Children should never feel scared to tell their mom, dad or teacher if they feel unsafe with someone. Remember, you can tell mom and dad anything.
